Masha and I bought 10 kg of carrots, 10 kg of apples, and a cabbage for the wildlife feeder in the forest. Before we left, Masha sorted and cut the apples into smaller pieces so they would be easier for the animals to eat. Then we packed everything and headed to the forest to refill the feeder. To be honest, this isn't the time of year when the animals need extra food the most. The forest is full of green plants, berries, and other natural food sources, so today's visit probably felt more like receiving an unexpected treat than a necessity. For us, though, it was the beginning of a habit. We want to keep the feeder supplied throughout the winter, when finding food becomes much more difficult for wildlife. I hope that when the snow comes and the forest grows quiet, the feeder will already be a place the animals know they can rely on.
