Ever since we built the platform by the lake, I have made a habit of visiting it in the mornings and feeding the ducks. At first, I brought bread because that is what many people feed ducks. Later, a neighbor told me that bread is not actually good for them. Wanting to do better, I tried bringing chopped carrots instead. The ducks were not impressed with that idea. After a little research, I ordered a 25 kg bag of nutritious feed made specifically for waterfowl. The ducks approved immediately. One of my favorite things to watch is how they dive underwater to catch the feed. At first, only the older ducks seemed confident enough to do it. Over time, the younger ducks started copying them and joining in.
