For two days, I kept hearing faint little sounds outside my house. I honestly thought it was just an insect. Eventually, I asked my husband to check. When he looked closer, he noticed tiny twigs and feathers near the top of a tall drainage pipe. That’s when we realized what had happened. A small bird had probably been trying to build a nest, slipped into the pipe, and couldn’t get back out. I couldn’t leave it there. I asked a group of construction workers nearby if they could help. They drilled a small opening near the bottom of the pipe, and after a lot of effort, I was finally able to reach in and rescue the bird. It was exhausted, dehydrated, and completely disoriented. A few moments later, it even fell into our swimming pool, so I had to rescue it a second time. I placed it gently on the grass and gave it some fresh water. It wasn’t strong enough to fly yet, so it spent about an hour slowly walking around the lawn, resting and regaining its strength. Then, finally, it flew up into a nearby tree… and a little later, disappeared over the fence. Watching it fly away filled me with relief. Sometimes helping doesn’t require doing something extraordinary. It simply means paying attention when someone—or something—is asking for help. Today, my heart is at peace. ❤️
